Barton Chapter #1In August 1881, Clara Barton, Civil War heroine, formed
the first local chapter of the American Red Cross in Dansville, Livingston County.
Barton and Dansville society members spearheaded the first disaster relief undertaken
by the American Red Cross by aiding victims of a Michigan forest fire. Clara
